Swingin' Cinco Under the Golden Gate!

Fresh on the heels of an East Bay tour (yeah, that was humor), Hot Rod Jukebox returns to Sausalito's Travis Marina / Presidio Yacht Club with rock 'n roll, rockabilly, and rhythm 'n blues tailor-made for vintage swing dancing. You'll find a community of swing dancers here, but other dancers (and non-dancers) are welcome too. Bring a dance partner, or meet one here -- the main thing is to have a great time and keep on rockin'!

Swing Dance at the "Wagon Wheel" (Eagles Hall)

Did you know that in the 1930s and 40s, the "Wagon Wheel" nightclub in El Cerrito was one of the most notorious gambling and vice locations in Northern California? According to reporter Chris Treadway, who is writing a book about the lawless past of El Cerrito, the Wagon Wheel was considered “the most notorious of the establishments in No Man’s Land and an ongoing headache to law enforcement.”

The "Wagon Wheel" nightclub is long gone, and for more than 50 years, the building on Panhandle Boulevard (now known as Carlson Boulevard) has been home to the Eagles Club fraternal organization. Hot Rod Jukebox teams up with the Eagles again to bring you a night of 1950's rock 'n roll for vintage swing dancing. Starting at 7:00 p.m. Liezel Martin will teach a dance lesson. Then Hot Rod Jukebox will bring you classic hits from from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Come early to get a good spot!

Ages 18 and up, open to the community. Tickets $12 at the door (cash only). Food and drinks available for purchase; full bar.

Eagles Hall, 3223 Carlson Blvd, El Cerrito -- near Central Avenue, San Pablo Avenue, and El Cerrito Plaza BART. (510) 525-0444.
